Shanghai Int'l Industrial Expo to Be Held

The Shanghai people's government, State Economic and Trade Commission, Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation, Ministry of Science and Technology, Ministry of Information Industry and Ministry of Education jointly held a news briefing in Beijing on September 13, declaring that the Shanghai International Industrial Expo--2000 Hi-Tech Achievements Exhibition will be held in Shanghai Exhibition Center between October 24 and 28.
The Shanghai International Industrial Expo will be a high-level, comprehensive and grand event which fully demonstrates the development of the hi-tech industry of Shanghai and the whole country and vigorously promotes the exchange and cooperation between domestic and overseas business people.
The Expo consists of eight industrial product trading halls, i.e., electronic information, biological medicine, electric appliances, industrial automation, network and software, automobile and parts and components, green household appliances, environmental protection technology and new materials. Emphasis will be placed on attracting hi-tech enterprises from west China to participate in the exhibition. Enterprises from more than 20 countries and regions including the United States, Japan, France and Italy will participate in the Expo.
