Establishment of Hangzhou Export Processing Zone Approved
The State Council has approved the establishment of the export-processing zone in Hangzhou, Zhejiang province. As one of the initial 15 processing zones authorized by the State Council, this is the only one for experimentation in Zhejiang province.
According to Zhejiang Daily, the export-processing zone as supervised and warded off by Customs is a special zone, a "bonded area in the territory". Situated at the eastern part of the Hangzhou Economy and Technology Development Zone, the planned area covers 2.92 square km, and the location has been approved by the General Administration of Customs. Now under construction are some auxiliary projects of the initial phase, taking up an area of 2.007 square kilometers.
