China Consumer Prices Rise in AugustChina's consumer prices in August rose 1 percent from July because of price rises for grain, pork, eggs and vegetables.According to information released Wednesday by the National Bureau of Statistics, the consumer prices in 25 of China's provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities rose between 0.3 percent to 2.6 percent, and the prices in other places dipped between 0.1 percent to 0.9 percent. In August food prices soared 2.4 percent, the price of fresh vegetables rose 11.8 percent, the price of pork increased 5 percent and the price of eggs rocketed by 18.6 percent. The price of medical products rose by 0.1 percent; clothing dropped by 0.4 percent; transport and telecommunication products dropped by 0.4 percent and housing and services rose by 0.6 and 0. 4 percent respectively. According to the statistics, national consumer prices increased 0.3 percent from August of last year and average consumer prices for the January-August period rose 0.2 percent from the same period last year. |
