Success Scored in Raising Edible Sturgeon

As the sturgeon resources are drying up, all countries in the world are seeking means and ways for the artificial breeding of it, and so is China. Under the support of Beijing department of fishery, Sun Jianhua, Duan Jingbo and others have succeeded in raising the sturgeon by using the water of the Guanting Reservoir, the source of the purest drinking water to flow through the net cases. Now according to related regulations, some species of the sturgeon averaging one kg will be on sale at the market.

Sturgeon is a kind of endangered fish on the brink of extinction, which has high economic and medicinal value as well as value for appreciation. As the fish tastes delicious and is very nutritious it has become a high-grade and special dish on the table. According to scientists, sturgeon contains more than 10 kinds of amino-acids that are necessary for people, and its adipose full of high quality "DHA"(Docosahexaenoic acid) and "EPA" (Eicosapentaenoic Acid) with its content high up to 12.5 % , which is good for softening cardiocerebral arteries and veins, invigorating brain development, increasing IQ and preventing senile dementia. Cartilage and notochord in sturgeon contains anti-cancer elements, so it is lauded as "Shark Fin", and its roe, bone, skin also have very high economic and medicinal value, and value for appreciation as well.

It is as reported that the production and cultivation of sturgeon needs license.
