Beijing District Opens Trade Talks to Lure Investment

The Xicheng District of Beijing, the national capital, launched a trade fair today with the aim of attracting 45 billion yuan worth of investment from home and abroad.

The event, dubbed "Beijing Xicheng District Economic and Cooperation Talks", intends to lure funds for 136 development projects, said Wang Lianchang, the district magistrate at the opening ceremony.

Xicheng, consisting of five major avenues of Beijing, plans to develop the fields of commerce, banking, real estate, culture, tourism, science and technology, and information, the official said.

So far, the district has set up 10 commercial streets, with 13 of the city's largest malls and 73 bank offices.

One of the fair's main goals is to promote the Banking Street, which covers 103 ha. and a floor space of 2.13 sq.m..
