China Protects Teachers' Legal Rights
China has formed laws to protect teachers' legal rights since the country adopted the policy of reform and opening to the outside world, the Ministry of Education said Tuesday.
With the enactment of the Compulsory Education Law in 1986, the Education Law in 1995, the Vocational Education Law in 1996 and the Higher Education Law in 1998, China began to build up a legal system to protect teachers' rights.
The 1993 Teachers Law for the first time thoroughly regulated the rights, obligation, competency, training, examination and treatment of teachers.
In further years, China will continue to issue a series of regulations on the management and qualification of more than ten million teachers in the country.
