Chinese President Meets American Guest
President Jiang Zemin met in Beijing Tuesday with Robert H. Benmosche, the president and chief executive officer of MetLife, a leading insurance company of the United States.
Jiang briefly described China's economic and financial reform as well as the growth of its social security system. He pointed out that the development of China-US relations asks for support from both the governments and people of all circles in both countries, expressing the hope that the US financial circle would do more for the bilateral relationship.
Benmosche said MetLife chose Beijing as the venue for its " presidents meeting," which was attended by delegates of its world branches, simply to give a chance to the delegates to learn about China's ancient civilization and vigorous development and to show the company's devotion to cooperation with China as well as the development of bilateral ties.
Benmosche is in Beijing at the invitation of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade.
