Chinese National Flag Hoisted in Olympic Athletes' Village

Chinese National Flag Hoisted in Olympic Athletes' Village
The Chinese national flag was hoisted at the athletes' village Tuesday afternoon after the arrival of its largest group of 279 members in the morning.

Attending the welcome ceremonies were Yuan Weimin, Chef de Mission of the Chinese sports delegation, Chinese ambassador to Australia Zhou Wenzhong, and some 80 officials, coaches and shooters and weightlifters athletes.

China is set to dispatch a 452-strong delegation, hoping to better the performances four years ago in Atlanta where China reapt 16 gold medals.

The Chinese sports delegation features 284 athletes for 166 events in 24 sports at the Sydney Games which is slated for September 15 and October 1.

Earlier, the Chinese gymnasts, women's soccer team, sharpshooters and archers have already arrived in Australia.
