World Shipping Giant Eyes China's Market

The American President Lines (APL), one of the world's top five shipping companies, recently showed great interest in the Chinese market.

Flemming R. Jacobs, CEO of the 150-year-old company, told the local media recently, "We'll increase the investment in China since it is one of the biggest shipping markets in the world."

"We strongly support China's entry into the World Trade Organization and hope to have closer cooperation with China in the future." Jacobs said.

He also disclosed that APL has ordered over 34,000 containers from a Chinese container manufacturer.

APL, owned by Singapore's Neptune Orient Lines (NOL), has 30 branches in China.
