Boeing Aiming at Tibet Air Route

Boeing Shows New Planes in SW China
On September 10, 2000, the president of Boeing Company China, Hao Fude flew personally to Chengdu, capital of southwest China's Sichuan Province, to promote the sale of Boeings.

Today, a Boeing 737 - 700 will fly directly to Tibet from Chengdu, the first flight of such plane on this airline. It will display its flight performance for three days in Tibet.

It's claimed by the person with the Boeing Company that Boeing 737 - 700 is a new type of the Boeing 737 series with a carrying capacity of 126 to 149 persons, the longest voyage of 6.038 km and a speed of 848 km per hour.

Presently, the China Southwest Airlines (CSA) is the only Chinese airline company flying the air-route of Tibet. With the launch of the project of eight new local airports in Tibet, CSA is inclined to seize the market of feeder air-routes in Tibet by putting Boeing 737 - 700 into service, which is suitable for flying on plateau.
