By the year 2015, Shanghai would basically be an international financial center, a spokesman from the Shanghai municipal government said at a symposium in Shanghai recently.

- The tertiary industry to account for 70% of the GDP and the high tech industry to account for around 65% of the GDP.

- The volume of trade at Shanghai's port to account for more than 5% of the world's total trade volume, and transit trade to account for more than 70% of that.

- To have more than 700 regional headquarters of multinational companies and have 400 out of the world's 500 strongest companies based in Shanghai.

- The international container loading and unloading capacity to exceed 20 million containers, and have the length of all roads in the city reach 300 kilometers.
