Police Seize Six Abductors in E. China ProvinceThe police in Fuzhou of Fujian Province arrested six abductors, recovered 1.06 million yuan, along with a Rolex watch and a mobile phone. The group kidnapped a man surnamed Chen on the evening of September 1. The kidnappers telephoned his wife, Liu, demanding a 1.28 million yuan(154,200 U.S. dollars) ransom, saying that if they did not receive the money they would kill Chen. Liu reported the kidnapping to the police and the police immediately started an investigation and found out that the hostage was being kept somewhere in the city of Changle in the province. The kidnappers, however, were eager to get the ransom and repeatedly called Liu, enabling the police to find them. On the afternoon of September 4, Liu met with the kidnappers, giving them 1.04 million yuan. The money was taken away by two of the kidnappers and they returned to Fuzhou, only to find that they had fallen into a trap by police. After arresting the two, the police caught the other four suspects in Fuzhou and Changle connected with the case and saved Chen who was locked inside a thatched cottage.
