More Suspected Bank Robbers Captured

Up till today, a dozen suspected bank robbers belonging to a criminal gang have been captured in central China's Hunan Province, police said.

Four of the suspects have confessed their crime on September 1, when they ambushed a vehicle carrying banknotes, killing seven people and wounded four on September 1 in downtown Changde City of Hunan Province.

Arms were also found in the home of one of the suspects including ten pistols, one hand grenade, over 1,000 bullets and two looted submachine guns

Police said that the gang is suspected of committing 12 bank robberies in Hunan and neighboring Hubei province and Chongqing municipality, killing a total of 21 people and wounding 20 more, looting 210,000 yuan (about 25,300 U.S. dollars) cash and jewelry worth 4.85 million yuan (about 584,000 U.S. dollars).

China's Ministry of Public Security has issued a most wanted list for another two suspects, Zhang Jun and Chen Shiqing, granting a 50,000-yuan (about 6,024 U.S.dollars) bounty for capturing each of the two principal criminals of the gang.
