Vice-Premier Attends Concert Commemorating Late Musician

Vice-Premier Li Lanqing Saturday night attended the concert marking the 60th anniversary of the birth of late Chinese musician Shi Guangnan at Beijing's Zhongshan Concert Hall.

The concert will feature the most outstanding music pieces composed by the musician, including the "Toast Fytte," one of the most widely known songs composed by Shi hailing the victory against the "Gang of Four" in 1976.

Various Chinese singers who are well-known for singing songs composed by Shi will sing at the concert, which was held both on September 8 and 9.

Shi, born in Chongqing Municipality in August 1940, died of a heart attack at his piano on May 2, 1990.

As former vice-chairman of the Chinese Musicians' Association, Shi composed more than 100 music pieces during his 20 year career.
