Rare Insect Exhibition Opens on Qinghai-Tibet Plateau

The First Rare Insect Specimen Exhibition opened Friday in Xining, capital city of Qinghai Province located on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau in northwest China.

More than 7,100 insect specimens, all collected by entomologists of the province in a period of 40 years, are on display. Besides some common insects, visitors may see rare species of moths, butterflies and bees.

The exhibition is organized by Qinghai Academy of Agricultural and Forestry Sciences along with a local tourism development corporation. It is aimed to spread knowledge about insects and the nature and arouse people's awareness to protect the environment.
