Nationwide Program to Develop Children's Potential

China will launch a nationwide education program to develop the potential of children in all aspects.

Gu Xiulian, vice-chairwoman of the All-China Women's Federation, declared recently that the "century children" plan will introduce advanced educational methods from abroad to improve the intelligence and capability of children, which is expected to enhance the overall quality of Chinese people.

China has 367 million children, one quarter of the nation's population. Many children bear heavy psychological and physiological burdens caused by inappropriate schooling or troubled family lives.

Children between the ages of 0 to 12 will be involved in the program, which provides education on four stages and provides all-round services during the whole process.

In addition to the "century children " plan, the federation will continue to advocate network education and health education programs for children in the future, according to Gu.
