OECD, China to Organize Investment Conference in Southern Chinese City

The Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) and the Chinese government will co-sponsor on September 11 and 12 a conference on foreign investment in China in the southern Chinese city of Xiamen.

OECD said in a communique on Thursday that the conference, entitled "Current Challenges of Foreign Direct Investment in China," will be attended by over 100 senior officials and executives from OECD countries, Chinese government, business and investment groups, international organizations, and research institutes.

The main objectives of the conference includes discussion of "the driving forces and economic effects of foreign direct investment on China's development and future plans and policies of foreign direct investment," and "exchange of information and experiences on best foreign investment promotion practices," said the Paris-based group.

This will be the second major event organized by OECD and the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation under a program launched a year ago to develop a common approach to analyze foreign investment trends and its impact in China and to enhance policy dialogue, it said.
