One Student Killed in Dalian Taxi Robbery

A 15-year-old student died Thursday after he was knocked down by a taxi robber Wednesday afternoon in northeast China's port city of Dalian.

The tragedy happened when Geng Chengwen, the victim, and 16 other students were on their way back home at about 4:30 p.m. Along with Geng's death, several others were wounded during the incident.

The wounded are still in hospital further medical treatment.

Du Wenxi, 23, the suspect, robbed a woman taxi driver and drove away in her taxi, after he forced the woman to get out of her car in the suburbs of the city.

The police chased after Du who drove erratically and knocked down 15 students and two more students subsequently.

Du was not apprehended until police shot out one of the taxi's tyres.

Du was from Wudaohe Village, Badai Township of north China's Inner Mongolian Autonomous Region.

The case is being investigated further.
