First Beijing-Lhasa Road Rally Ends in Potala

The first Beijing-Lhasa Road Rally came to an end at Potala, Lhasa. Liu Lianzhong was crowned the champion by the organizers of the race at the award ceremony and the Tibet Sports Administration presented hadas, a piece of silk used as a greeting gifts among Tibetans, to the rest of the participants.

The 11-day road rally started from Tiananmen Square in Beijing and traveled through Hebei, Henan, Shannxi, Gansu, Qinghai to Tibet. Most of the 30 participants paid out of their own pocket to compete in the race.

Liu Zhenlong, head organizer of the race, explained that the difference between a road rally and cross-country race lies in integrating business trips into the race.

The race was divided into three sections: Lanzhou-Jiayuguan, Jiayuguan and Dunhuang-Golmud. Five thousand yuan was awarded to the winner with the highest comprehensive score in the three sections.

"I believe it was an eye-open opportunity to enhance the psychological quality and driving skill," said Liu Zhenlong.

It took the organizers three years to test the course twice. This match is one of the events in the "21st World Universade".

The game is sponsored by China's Automobile Game Union, Beijing Sports Administration and Tibet Sports Administration.
