HK Delegation to Attend APEC Meeting in Brunei

Stephen Ip, secretary for financial services of Hong Kong, will lead a Hong Kong delegation to attend a meeting of ministers responsible for finance of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC).

At the meeting, which will be held in Brunei on September 9 and 10, finance ministers of APEC economies will discuss global and regional macroeconomic and financial developments.

"The meeting will provide a good opportunity for ministers to discuss new business opportunities and associated risk management challenges presented by globalization of financial markets.

"In this connection, we call upon the international financial community to join forces to keep up the momentum in reforming the international financial architecture to minimize risks," Ip said.

In addition, the participants will discuss initiatives to promote sustainable economic growth in the region.

Other members of the Hong Kong delegation include officials from the Financial Services Bureau, the Hong Kong Monetary Authority and the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in Singapore.
