China Hosts Seminar on Insurance, Risk Management
Over 20 foreign specialists and more than 150 Chinese experts gathered in Nankai University Thursday to attend a three-day seminar on insurance, actuary and risk management in Tianjin, the largest port city in north China.
Organizers with Nankai University said the seminar aims to intensify exchanges of domestic actuaries with the foreign experts, thus pushing China's insurance industry towards specialization and globalization.
Norm Crowder, chairman of the North America Actuarial Association, said the organization established a cooperative relationship with the university in 1988 in actuaries training.
Most of China's 30 actuaries with international certificates and 43 actuaries with domestic certificates received their vocational training at the university.
