Sixth Chinese International Food Fair to Be Held in Wuhan

The sixth Chinese international food fair will be held in Wuhan, capital of central China's Hubei Province, from December 12-16.

The fair will be hosted jointly by the State Administration of Internal Trade, the China Food Industry Association, the China Organizing Committee for United Nations International Science and Peace Week, Hubei Province, and the Wuhan City government.

According to the organizers, the fair will have 1,000 business booths trading food, non-alcoholic and alcoholic beverages, tobacco, as well as food processing machinery, farm and sideline products.

During the fair, a range of other activities will also be held, including a forum on world food, a symposium on food development strategy in central and western China, promotions on famous brand food, and on-line shopping.

Wuhan, located on the middle reaches of the Yangtze River, is the most important industrial city in central China. The value of the food consumed each day in the city is between 120 million to 150 million yuan, while 180 million yuan worth of food is also traded daily.

The five previous fairs, also held in Wuhan, attracted 4,000 food processing businesses and 100,000 trading companies, with attendance reaching one million. Business deals worth 1.78 million yuan were struck in the five fairs.
