Belarus Reiterates Adherence to One-China PolicyBelarussian Prime Minister Vladimir Yermoshin on Wednesday reiterated his government's adherence to the "One-China" policy.During a meeting with visiting Chinese leader Li Peng, Yermoshin said Belarus regards the government of the People's Republic of China as the only legitimate government of China and this position will never change. Li Peng, chairman of the Standing Committee of China's National People's Congress, said Sino-Belarussian bilateral ties have been promoted through frequent exchange of visits at various levels. Li also pointed out that a multipolar world is conducive to peace, while it is dangerous to have a unipolar world. The two sides agreed that developing countries should learn to cope with the challenges brought about by the globalization of the world economy. They vowed to further strengthen bilateral cooperation in trade, science and technology and education between China and Belarus, which share common interests. Li arrived here on Tuesday for a three-day visit to Belarus after attending the Millennium Summit of world parliamentary leaders at the United Nations.
