China Beats Angola, 69:61

China survived a strong challenge by Angola to post a 69:61 win Wednesday at the finals of the Fiba Diamond Ball basketball competition at the Hong Kong Coliseum.

The victory secured the Chinese the 5th place of the competition, which had six participating national teams, including the current World Champion Yugoslavia and the current champions from four continents.

The game between China and Angola was a close battle with neither team making the decisive move until the final 13 minutes. "They are very tall and strong, making us difficult to score," said Antonio Ferreira, head coach of the Angola National Team.

Jiang Xingquan, head coach of the Chinese National Basketball Team, said that the game was fierce. "Angola's strong defense and rebounce caused us making a lot of faults, but we did our best," Jiang added.
