NPC Chairman Begins Tour of Belarus
China's top legislator Li Peng arrived in Minsk Tuesday evening on a three-day visit to Belarus at the invitation of the Belarusian National Assembly.
Li, chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, was met at the airport by Speaker of the House of Representatives (Lower House) Anatoly Malofeyev, Speaker of the House of Republics (Upper Chamber) Pavel Shipuk, and other senior officials of the lower and upper houses.
During his stay here, Li Peng is expected to have talks with Prime Minister Vladimir Yermoshin, Lower House Speaker Malofeyev, Upper House Speaker Shipuk, and President Alexander Lukashenko on bilateral ties and, regional and international issues of common concern.
Li paid a brief visit to Lithuania earlier in the day before coming to Minsk.
