East China Tax Payers to Turn in Taxes On-line

Shandong Provincial Telecom Company (SPTC) and the Shandong Taxation Administrative Bureau (STAB) have signed a contract Tuesday to realize 90 percent of tax payers turning in taxes via the Internet or telephone by the first quarter of next year.

STAB director Song Lan said the new ways of tax payment will save the time and simplify procedures, thus lowering costs.

The SPTC has developed a new tax payment system to ensure the security of on-line or phone call tax payment. By August, nearly 2,000 enterprises have used the new system to pay taxes by phone calls and 170 via the Internet.

Managing staff with the SPTC said they also set a specific tax payment phone service number "17961" for the tax payers in the province. They are striving to soon connect with the State Administration of Taxation, joining in the national taxation network.
