Senior CPC Official Meets Japanese Guests

Jia Qinglin, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, met with Kazuo-Haruna, former president of Marubeni Corporation of Japan and his party Tuesday.

Jia, who is also secretary of the CPC Beijing Municipal Committee, said that China and Japan enjoy a long-standing friendship, adding that the friendship will continue.

Japanese citizens have played an important role in cementing Sino-Japanese relations, Jia said, adding that he hopes elderly Japanese like Kazuo-Haruna would draw from their personal experiences and tell younger generations of Japan's historical truths.

Jia said that economic cooperation is an important part of the consolidation and development of Sino-Japanese relations. He urged Marubeni to enhance cooperation with Chinese enterprises in the areas of technology and trade.

Kazuo-Haruna, who is also a special adviser to the Japan-Chinese Economic Association delegation, told Jia that he will do his utmost to advance the cooperation and friendship between Japan and China.

Marubeni is a widely-known Japanese company with over one hundred years of history.
