Macao SAR Govt to Make Big Deal with MicrosoftThe government of China's Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) will buy a large amount of computer software from Microsoft at rather favorable prices, the Macao Daily News reported Tuesday.The software will have a market value of more than 10 million patacas (1.25 million US dollars). As a result, 44 government departments will have their software upgraded or begin to use authorized software in the coming two years. In view of the mass purchase, Microsoft will offer a 35-percent discount at least. Officials with the Public Administrative and Civil Services of the Macao SAR government are scheduled to sign an agreement with representatives of Microsoft Wednesday. The agreement will not benefit educational institutions which might enjoy a bigger discount, the report said. On April 10 this year, the chief executive of the Macao SAR issued an administrative decree demanding that all government departments use authorized software. |
