South Korean and Japanese Youth Soccer Teams Tie

The South Korean and Japanese youth (19 and under) soccer teams played to a tie 1:1 in a friendly game in Seoul yesterday.

This game was a warm-up for the Asian Youth Soccer Tournament, which will be held in Iran this November. The South Korean youth team recalled three players from the South Korean Olympic team because it wanted to win the game. But the Japanese team scored a goal nine minutes into the match. The South Korean team counterattacked and Li Tianxiu finally scored a goal at the thirty minutes mark. Both sides failed to score in the second half.

The South Korean youth soccer team has beaten the Japanese team in all their games since 1996. This game broke the team's streak of wins. But the South Koreans still hold a 17 win, 2 ties and 3 losses record against the Japanese.
