Police Killer Sentenced to Death

A man who killed a policeman in July was sentenced to death on 4th by the Beijing No.1 Intermediate People's Court.

Wang Guoqing, 22, Li Zhongbao, 26, and Li Deyu, 30, plotted to steal from tourists in the Summer Palace on July 23 this year.

Wang and Li Zhongbao stole a mobile phone from a tourist. Policeman Yuan Shiguang detected their pilferage and tried to seize them with two other volunteers.

Wang broke the main artery in the abdomen of Yuan with a knife.The fatal wound led to the death of the policeman.

During the interrogation, Wang confessed that he had killed another man surnamed Zhu, on July 4, during a quarrel. Before being arrested, the three had also stolen a mobile phone, a camera and a telescope.��

Wang was sentenced to death and was deprived of political rights with all his private property confiscated.

Li Zhongbao was sentenced to six months of imprisonment and was fined 1,000 yuan. His help in the tracing and arrest of Wang was taken into consideration for his sentencing.

Li Deyu was sentenced to 15 months of imprisonment and was fined 2,000 yuan for helping Wang sell the stolen goods.
