China's Fastest Cluster Computer Comes into Appearance in Shanghai

"Ziqiang 2000-SUHPCS", a high performance system of cluster computer developed by China herself, has lately come into being in Shanghai University and passed the assessment of the expert appraisal committee September 1.

According to news from China Radio International, the peak speed of this system can reach as high as 300 billion floating points per second. It is so far the one with the highest speed of all cluster computer systems of high performance in China.

Cluster system is a mode for computer system research that has witnessed a fast development in the world in recent years. It can be applied in the calculation of molecule structure of new materials and will play an important role in carrying out the extensive calculations in the science and engineering fields.
