China to Launch First Magnetic Suspension TrainThe manufacture of China's first magnetic suspension train for commercial operation is expected to be completed by the end of October this year.The magnetic suspension train is being constructed by the Changchun Passenger Railway Car Plant in northeast China's Jilin Province. It consists of one trailer and two headstocks with control rooms. The 11.2-meter-long train weighs 18 tons. The train carrying about 80 passengers will be raised eight mm high above the rails and travel at a speed of 80 kilometers per hour. The magnetic levitation train is scheduled to commence operation along a tourism route in southwest China's Sichuan Province next year. |
