Shanghai Electronic Information Manufacturing Industry Develops at Top Speed

Shanghai's electronic information manufacturing industry has all along maintained a growth rate of over 23 percent in the past three years.

Its achievements in hi-tech industry fields this year continue to take the leading position, with the increase rate standing at above 30 percent in the first seven months, 20 percentage points higher than the city's average industrial added value.

In the first half of this year, Shanghai's electronic information manufacturing industry chalked up an output value of 32.27 billion yuan, up 22.2 percent over the same period last year.

Among the total quantity of the national electronic information manufacturing industrial products, Shanghai's products account for about one-seventh, and its tax for about one-fifth of the whole trade in the country.

The rapid development of Shanghai's electronic information manufacturing industry this year is attributed mainly to the fact that it is far ahead others in the same trade in terms of technological level and production scale in the industrial chain of the design, manufacture and packaging of integrated circuits. Shanghai's optical fibers, cables and optical transmitting equipment manufacturing are quite competitive in the world, and have a one-fourth share in the domestic market. Among the country's 100 top foreign-funded enterprises, 14 enterprises are in Shanghai, which take up one-seventh of the total sales volume of all these enterprises.
