Leaders of Macao, Singapore Agree to More Cooperation

Leaders of Singapore and the Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) of China have agreed to strengthen cooperation in economy, trade, tourism and civil servant training.

Edmund Ho Hau Wah, chief executive of the Macao SAR, told the media Friday following his four-day visit to Singapore that the Singapore government shows a friendly and favorable attitude.

"I believe the visit will make the contacts of the two areas more close in the future," he said at the Macao International Airport.

He noted that Florinda da Rosa Silva Chan, secretary for administration and justice of the Macao SAR government, and other officials will soon go to Singapore and carry out practical cooperation in the training of civil servants.

In view of different social conditions, Macao will not copy the mode of administration of Singapore, but will draw on the latter's experience in civil servant training, Edmund Ho said.
