Charge for Host-number-display Should Be Regulated: MIIChina's Ministry of Information Industry (MII) recently instructed China Mobile and China Unicom to make a nationwide investigation in the charging of mobile phone's host-number-display function, according to a source from MII.The move is to further implement the notice issued on May 15th this year on readjustment of mobile phone charges. The notice set the maximum service charge for the host-number-display function at ten yuan (US$1.2); variations, though permitted on the basis of regional differentiations, must be submitted to MII and put on record for reference. The results of the move show that except Beijing, Chongqing municipalities, Jiangsu, Anhui, Fujian, Shandong, Hunan, Hainan, Sichuan, Guizhou, Yunan, Shanxi and Gansu provinces and Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, other provinces, regions and cities in China charge mobile phone users five to ten yuan (US$0.602 to US$1.204) per month for the service. Many mobile phone subscribers complained for the charge. They are used to the free service which has been carried out in recent years. Officials from Beijing Mobile told reporters that Beijing will continue with its free service for its subscribers.
