State Councilor Urges Officials to Study Theories
State Councilor Wang Zhongyu has urged government officials to give priority to theoretical learning so as to have a good grasp of the overall situation and make new efforts to reinvigorate the Chinese nation.
Wang made the remark Friday at the opening of the National School of Administration (NSA), which trains senior officials of government departments.
A special course for provincial and ministerial level officials to study the development China's western provinces was also opened at the school.
Highlighting the importance of holding such a research course, Wang said developing China's western provinces is an important strategy for China's economic and social development at the turn of the new century.
Wang, who is also the secretary-general of the State Council and president of the NSA, expressed his hope that the trainees will put theory into practice. He urged them to be reform-minded and bold in their theoretical studies.
