Chinese Defense Minister Meets ROK Guests

Chinese Defense Minister Chi Haotian met Friday with Cho Yungkil, chairman of the joint chiefs of staff of the Republic of Korea and his party.

Chi, also vice-chairman of the Central Military Commission and a state councilor, said that the relations between China and the ROK have been developing smoothly in recent years.

He added that he hopes the two sides will continue to strengthen cooperation and push forward good-neighborly and friendly cooperation.

Chi said that rapprochement on the Korea Peninsula conforms to the interests of the two sides on the peninsula, adding that China is willing to continue to contribute to the peace and stability in the region.

Cho thanked China for its constructive role in maintaining the peace and stability on the peninsula.
