Sorour also praised China for its success in developing the country in its own way, saying it is a "great undertaking." Li Peng expressed admiration and appreciation for the important and active role Egypt plays in international and regional affairs as a major power in the Arab world and Africa. Li also held a meeting with Gildas Molgat, speaker of the Canadian Senate on Thursday. The two leaders agreed to increase cooperation between legislatures of the two countries on bilateral and multi-lateral occasions. Li is attending the three-day millennium summit of presiding officers of national parliaments, which began here at United Nations headquarters on Wednesday. |
