IT Companies Jointly Develop Linux Software

Chinese IT companies are working hand in hand to accelerate the development of Linux application software. The number of firms participating in the "Supportive Center Project" kicked off last April has increased to 11.

Sponsored by the China Software Association, the project is aimed at promoting Linux-based application software with Chinese characteristics, thereby giving an impetus to the further development of e-business in China. This project has the policy affirmation of the Chinese Ministry of Information Industry and the support of the Intel Corporation.

The Ministry of Information Industry, the China Software Association and Intel Corporation attended Wednesday's press conference and granted participation certificate to the aforementioned 11 companies.

These companies have so far offered OS version for Chinese server, and complete sets of formulas for ISP and the data center and for enterprise to go online and enterprise ERP. Furthermore, Linux training and supportive website have also been launched.
