Diplomatic Envoys Visit Gansu Province

Fifty-nine diplomatic envoys and their spouses from 38 countries arrived here on August 31, kicking off a visit to northwest China's Gansu province.

Gansu Governor Song Zhaosu briefed the visitors on the province's plan in developing western China and the problems facing the local government.

He said that economic globalization is the trend in the economic development of the world, and facts show that Gansu has no choice but to pursue the opening-up drive. He pledged that the province would provide opportunities for foreign investors.

Eleih-Elle Etian, Cameroon ambassador to China, said that the envoys will learn the situation in Gansu, so as to improve mutual understanding and trade cooperation between Gansu and their own countries in the long run.

The guests visited a local environment research institute, and they will also learn about the utilization of solar energy in this region.
