Senior Chinese, ROK Military Officers Hold TalksFu Quanyou, chief of the general staff of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA), held talks with Cho Yungkil, chairman of the joint chiefs of staff of the Republic of Korea (ROK)'s armed forces.They exchanged views on issues in bilateral relations and regional and international issues of common concern. On the Taiwan issue, Fu stressed that the PLA will faithfully carry out the task endowed by the Communist Party of China and the Chinese people and resolutely oppose conspiracy of any form aimed at separate the motherland. He added that the PLA, in line with the principle of "peaceful reunification and one country, two systems," will continue to make efforts for an early settlement of the Taiwan issue and realize the full reunification of the motherland. Cho said that he hopes the two countries and their armed forces will continuously enrich and develop their friendly cooperation within the framework of the ROK-China relations of partnership of cooperation geared to the 21st century. He also expressed the hope that the two countries will join efforts to contribute to maintaining regional stability and development. Cho arrived in China on Monday for an official goodwill visit at the invitation of Fu. |
