Anti-Corruption Movie Hits Box-Office Record

A Chinese movie "Live or Die", with an anti-corruption theme, has earned record high box office takings in Beijing, according to Thursday's Beijing Youth Daily.

The movie created 1.05 million yuan (about 125,000 US dollars) at the box office on the first day of release, and 1.1 million yuan on the next day, a record of single day box-office earnings in Beijing, the newspaper report said.

"So far, more than 400,000 audiences have watched the movie which has been screened nearly 1,000 times," the report said.

The movie's original script, a novel titled "Option", has also seen a comeback with brisk sales in the nation's capital.

The publisher said that more than 100,000 copies of the novel have been printed.
