ROK Helps China with CDMA Technology ExpansionHantong Multimedia Inc., a telecom company from the Republic of Korea (ROK) signed a contract with two mobile telecom dealers today to supply them with hand phones from ROK, supported by code division multiple access (CDMA) technology.Hantong will supply its two Chinese partners with about 10 million name brand mobile phones like Samsung, LG and Hyundai. This contract deals with the largest amount of mobile phones since the ROK company expanded its business in China. Hantong also set up Hantong (Tianjin) Multimedia Company in August in north China, planning to make China its main focus for business expansion in the future. Managing staff with Hantong said China is expected to finish its own CDMA mobile telecom system at the end of this year, which will promise a brighter future for CDMA-supported mobile phones. There has been a soaring growth in China's mobile telecom industry. One of the Chinese companies, Yuning, will make good use of its more than 900 shops in Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei to sell the ROK mobile phones. CDMA technology, initiated in the United States, has been put into use in Asia, primarily in the ROK and Japan.
