National Geographic to Help Boost HK's Tourism

The Hong Kong Tourist Association (HKTA) and National Geographic announced Thursday that they will set up a global marketing alliance.

National Geographic will produce a series of programs to introduce to readers and audience Hong Kong's glamour as a tourist destination.

"We will be utilizing the print, television and Internet arms of National Geographic starting in October 2000," said Tony Tse, HKTA's general manager in charge of marketing communications.

Among the programs is a series of 10 documentary vignettes, which illustrate a day in the life of a National Geographic photographer in Hong Kong.

"Our audience will 'see' Hong Kong through the eyes of the world's top photographers bringing to life the color, delivery and contrasts of the territory and its people in a fresh way," said Deborah Armstrong, vice president in charge of sales and marketing of the National Geographic Channel Asia.
