Wideband Education Network Launched in Hong Kong

August 30 saw the wideband education network put into operation in Hong Kong. This is a large-scale infrastructure project for education brought about by the Hong Kong Educational Bureau.

The said project consists of the following four items: first, it is to build a wideband education network both on Internet and LAN to bring about a favorable ambience for learning. Secondly, it is to put up a large website "Hong Kong Information and Consultancy City for Education" so as to collect information from government, business and commerce, social service and education circles for a healthy education. Thirdly, to launch an online "education resource database", for offering education information to schools, teachers and parents and finally to boost the development of the IT culture, thus making the Internet and information and consultancy technology a channel for all-round and lifelong study.

After months' preparation, a wideband network for education has been popularized in Hong Kong and a lot of schools have already been equipped with it, thus strengthening the application of information and consultancy sci-tech in education.
