CPPCC Vice-Chairman Meets Japanese Foreign Minister
Song Jian, vice-chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), met with visiting Japanese Foreign Minister Yohei Kono in Beijing Thursday.
Song, who is also the president of the China-Japan Friendship Association (CJFA), congratulated Kono on the success of his current visit and appreciated his efforts in helping advance the non-governmental relationship between the two countries.
Developing friendship between the two countries is the common aspiration of both the governments and the peoples, and the CJFA would make unremitting efforts to help promote such ties, Song noted.
Kono acknowledged the importance of communication between the two countries, saying the present friendship between the two countries had not come easily and the younger generation of the two countries should understand the importance of such a relationship. He hoped CJFA would continue its efforts in this regard.
