ABF Advocates Chinese Around the World Support Beijing's Bid for 2008 Olympics

After the news that Beijing was short listed to host the 2008 Olympics reached Sydney, the Australia Beijing Federation (ABF), a local Chinese civic organization, issued press release calling for Chinese around the world to support Beijing's bid to host the 2008 Olympic.

As the Sydney Olympic near, local Chinese in Australia are busy preparing to support Chinese athletes. More than seventy overseas Chinese organizations in Sydney founded the "Australia and China Olympic Friendship Promotion Federation" to show their patriotism.

The ABF proposal said that hosting the Olympics has been a common dream for Chinese at home and abroad for generations. The Chinese race has an illustrious history of thousands years, has been called the "Sick man of East Asia" in modern times. Our common goal is to wash off hundreds of years of shame and revitalize the Chinese nation. To apply to host the 2008 Olympics is a good opportunity for China to show the world its splendid civilization and brilliant achievements.

The proposal also calls Chinese around the world to encourage their governments to support Beijing's bid.
