Intel And AsiaInfo Join Hands to Tap China's Telecom/ISP Market

Intel (China) Ltd, a subsidiary of Intel Corporation and AsiaInfo, the leading provider of Internet related IT professional services and software products in China announced to join hands in developing IA-based solutions to meet the growing needs of China's vast telecommunications and ISP market.

Intel and AsiaInfo signed a Memorandum of Understanding, confirming AsiaInfo's accession into Intel's e-Business Service Provider (eBSP) Program, a worldwide Web integrator-focused channel initiative that provides businesses with a source for standardized e-Business solutions as well as outlining program commitments. It also included an overall agreement to work together to deploy Intel architecture-based applications and solutions, from the front-end through the data center.

"We are glad that Intel and AsiaInfo will team up in developing IA-based e-business solutions for ISP/Telecom sector in China,"said Mr. C.Y. Yeung, General Manager, Intel Architecture Lab, "it is another strong evidence that IA platform is capable on high-end in ISP/Telecom segment."

Mr. Yeung said the cooperation between AsiaInfo and Intel is expected to provide the end users in China with the total solution of telecom platform, computer platform, network and software solution; Intel has selected AsiaInfo as its first Direct Value Added Reseller (Direct VAR) in the telecommunications industry in China. AsiaInfo will port its IP Billing and Messaging software to IA Server Platform. Intel and AsiaInfo will utilize the existing distribution channel of Intel to benefit AsiaInfo's software sales

"Intel will continue to contribute to China's telecom industry through enabling AsiaInfo in delivering compelling Internet/E-biz solution for ISP & Telecom," added Mr. Yeung.

Intel launched its eBSP Program in February, 2000 to work with leading Web integrators to develop a "best of breed" e-Commerce integration framework, operating on Intel architecture-based systems, for large and small companies setting up business on the Internet. Intel's eBSP Program will also provide Web integrators with training, business development, and co-marketing efforts.

"The lack of replicable, tested solutions that can be applied across multiple businesses has forced many e-Business solution providers to design custom solutions on a project basis," said James Ding, CEO, AsiaInfo, "One of the benefits of Intel's program is the ability to perform analyses and tests necessary to deliver integrated e-Business solutions to our clients - and to do this in Internet time."

The Intel eBSP Program's technology enablement will occur through the use of Intel labs, engineers, technical marketing support, and training and certification programs. Member eBSPs will have access to Intel's database of collateral, white papers and solution briefs, as well as to Intel client and server hardware, software, and networking products. In addition, eBSPs and Intel will cooperate in marketing and sales development activities.

"Intel's eBSP Program will provide Web integration experts with the products, tools, resources, and technical information they need to offer the best Intel-based e-Business solutions to their customers," said Jason Chen, Vice President, Intel Corporation, General Manager, Intel Asia Pacific, "We are excited to work with AsiaInfo to make Intel architecture the platform of choice and an Internet infrastructure standard."

The two companies also launched the first fruit of their cooperation- The AIMC (AsiaInfo Mail Center, an IA based million-level email system). "We are committed to enabling Internet development and application in China through Intel architecture," said Mr. Chen. "And the development of such products by AsiaInfo is a sign of the dedication of the two companies to the acceleration of the Internet economy."

AsiaInfo is the leading provider of Internet related IT professional services and software products in China. AsiaInfo offer telecommunications service providers in China total network solutions for their Internet infrastructure requirements and develop billing\application software for Internet service providers, Internet content providers and telecommunications service providers.
