Macao Chief Executive Meets with Singapore Foreign Minister

Visiting Chief Executive of China's Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) Edmund Ho Hau Wah met with Singapore Minister for Foreign Affairs S. Jayakumar in the evening Wednesday.

At a briefing to reporters after the meeting, Ho said that Singapore foreign minister expressed a very straight-forward and friendly attitude and promised that Singapore government will be very willing to develop cooperative relations with Macao SAR government in particular area of civil service training and IT development.

"We are more than pleased to work with Singapore at the government level as well as in the private sector for the IT business," he said, adding that "The visit has been well so far and we have a lot of job to do in the future."

"I would definitely advise relevant government officials and agencies in the future to come to Singapore for working trips," he said.

He also said that his government will work through Singapore's General Consular Office to Hong Kong and Macao for future official contacts.

AT noon, Chinese acting ambassador to Singapore Guan Mu gave a reception in honor of Ho Hau Wah.

Earlier today, Ho visited Singapore Civil Service College and the Central Provident Board.

Ho arrived here Tuesday for a three-day official visit to Singapore. He officiated the "Macao Promotion Week" shortly after his arrival.
