Smuggled Antelope Horns Seized in Xinjiang

Helgus Customs in the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region in northwest China recently seized 1,800 smuggled antelope horns weighing 286 kilograms.

On August 17, Helgus customs officers confiscated 600 smuggled antelope horns in a bus which weighed more than 100 kilograms. On August 21, another batch of 1,200 antelope horns were seized by customs officers in another bus.

Over the past few years, customs in Xinjiang have taken strict steps to intensify supervision on the import and export of products related to wild animals and plants in a bid to crack down on smuggling of such banned goods.

Since May, two customs agencies at Alataw Shankou and Helgus of Xinjiang has handled five smuggling cases involving antelope horns and confiscated 3,000 antelope horns.
